The US Open Mid-Atlantic Playoff will kickoff tomorrow at the Tennis Center in College Park at 8:00 AM.
The following players from the JTCC family will compete:
Amy Zhu (JTCC Class of 2011)
Amy is a rising sophomore at the University of Michigan. In her first season of collegiate competition, she compiled a 30 and 27 record (22 and 14 in singles; 8 and 13 in doubles). She primarily played the No. 5 and No. 6 positions for the Wolverines. Amy will compete in singles (first match against Joanna Zalewski at Noon on Saturday) and mixed doubles.
Evan Zhu (Current JTCC player)
Evan is the No. 1 Boys’ 14 and Under player in the nation and No. 2 in the Boys’ 16 and Under in the Mid-Atlantic region. Evan will compete in singles (first match against John Quirk at 10:00 AM on Saturday) and mixed doubles (first match is 3:00 PM on Saturday). In the mixed competition, Evan will pair up with his sister, Amy.
Luke Tercek (Current JTCC player)
Luke is rated as a four star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net. He will graduate from high school as part of the Class of 2014. In his most recent match, Luke bowed out in the round of 32 in the USTA MAS Challenger Boys’ 18 and Under bracket. He battled Sebastian Mermersky and extended him to three sets (9-11 in the third). Luke will take on Michael Fowler at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
Nick Bayh (Current JTCC player)
Nick is No. 24 in the Mid-Atlantic region in the Boys’ 18 and Under Division. Along with Luke, he competed in the USTA MAS Challenger on the George Washington campus. He defeated fellow JTCC player Ammar Alhogbani in the round of 64, 6-4, 6-3. Nick will play Samuel Berman at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
Paul Webster (Current JTCC player)
In the David LeMair Tennis Boys’ 18 Futures tournament last weekend, Paul made a run into the Finals before falling short to No. 1 seed Michael Fowler, 6-7(5-7), 2-6. Paul will match up against Keith Whittingham at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Kyrylo Tsygura (Current JTCC player)
Kyrylo is the youngest player (14) in the tournament. Earlier in May, Kyrylo held serve on his home court by advancing to the Quarterfinals of the USTA National Open. He was ousted by JTCC player and doubles partner, Andrew Fenty, 1-6, 5-7. Kyrylo will play Zack Zapatero at 11:30 AM on Saturday.
Tamara Culibrk (Current JTCC player)
A four star recruit as rated by TennisRecruiting.net, Tamara is ranked No. 32 in the Mid-Atlantic region. In mid-May, she competed in the USTA MAS Challenger Girls’ 18 Division and cruised into the Quarterfinals. Tamara will take on Janneh Kolleh at 12:30 PM on Saturday.
Cecilia Lynham (Current JTCC player)
Cecilia is No. 8 in the Mid-Atlantic region in the Girls’ 16 Division. She played in the USTA National Open at the Harrison Tennis Center in Georgia this month. After dispatching her first round opponent, she was upended by Sofia Kurtz in three sets in the Round of 32. Cecilia will play Kristina Centenari at 1:30 on Saturday.
Jada Robinson (Current JTCC player)
Jada was ranked No. 1 in the Girls’ 14 Division in the Mid-Atlantic while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is currently No. 11 in the Girls’ 16. Jada is pitted against Elvi Serrot (1:00 PM on Saturday).
Raveena Kingsley (Current JTCC player)
As the No. 3 seed in the USTA National Open two weeks ago, Raveena captured the Girls’ 14 Singles Championship by defeating fellow JTCC teammate Isabelle Boulais, 6-3, 6-1. Kingsley lost a mere 12 total games in five matches. She will take on Jordan King at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
