Junior Tennis Champions Center player Andrew Fenty has made it to the final of the Nike Junior International Teen Tennis tournament after another upset, winning 6-3, 6-2 over No. 4 seed Felix Auger Aliassime in Bolton, England today. His opponent in the finals will be No. 2 Nicola Kuhn of Spain, who knocked out American Axel Nefve in the other semifinal.
Fenty, ranked No. 8 nationally in the U14 division, is coming off a very successful 2013. After losing to fellow JTCC U14 player Patrick Kypson in the final of the USTA Mid-Atlantic National Open in May, he won the Battle in the Burg, a USTA National Championship, in June by defeating No. 1 seed Robert Maciag. He rounded off the year by qualifying for the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl, eventually going out again to Kypson. Originally from Washington, D.C., Fenty is the son of former mayor Adrian Fenty and has a twin brother named Matthew.
Nicola Kuhn, ranked No. 11 by Tennis Europe, comes into the final after defeating both Nefve and another American, Roscoe Bellamy, in his last two matches. Hailing from Torrevieja, he has been touted by local Spanish press as the next Rafael Nadal. Coming off a 21-8 record in 2013, Kuhn promises to be a tough finals opponent for young Fenty.
The final will be played on Friday at the USN Bolton Arena.
