Wimbledon Champ Arconada Receives Citi Open Main Draw Wild Card
Seventeen-year-old Usue Arconada will be interviewed on WJLA at 8:40 am Friday after receiving a Citi Open main draw wild card.
The Wimbledon Girls’ Doubles champion will be competing for the first time in the main draw of a WTA tournament when the Citi Open starts on Monday, July 18.
“I am really looking forward to getting out there and competing with some of the best players on the tour,” said Arconada, who practiced on Thursday with former world #1 Caroline Wozniacki at the Rock Creek Tennis Center.
Arconada also generously took time out of her Citi Open preparations to answer questions from JTCC’s summer campers, where Arconada got her start and continues to train in the Champions program. The audience was enthralled as she described her Wimbledon experience, which she said was the culmination of all her hard work.
