The start of the fall is an important time for our athletes at JTCC. They are coming off a busy summer tournament schedule so it is nice to have some consistency. It is a time for us to get our athletes in peak condition to begin the fall in the right way. We began with a series of tests during the first week. They give us a base point to see where our athletes stand and what their strengths/weaknesses are. It also allows the players to set goals for themselves in order to beat their scores from previous tests and to push themselves when testing time comes around again. The numbers they produced were competitive but we still have a long way to go in order to attain the maximum results we are looking for.

Two areas I specifically want to focus on this year are the intensity our players show within their training and the consistency that they exhibit. I can’t stress enough the importance of training consistently. It is the only way to make improvements. The players need to learn that when they train hard one day that doesn’t mean they get a free pass for the following day. The next day may not be as taxing on the body, but it is still important to treat it with the same focus and intensity as the previous workout.

All great athletes, no matter the sport, train with consistency because they know that is how they are going to keep getting better and stronger. It comes down to simply staying dedicated and putting in the work. We’re going to make sure our players understand this
concept. We will be staying on top of them a lot this fall. The fitness staff will ensure nobody cuts any corners and we are going to be strict with rule enforcement. Our end goal is that the motivation eventually comes from the players and not from the staff constantly badgering them. We want players who are eager to improve and are willing to put in the necessary work to achieve excellent results. We consider ourselves the top training center in the country and we want our players representing and embodying that mindset and attitude. We expect to have a great year and it is off to a good start so far! Let’s keep it up!
