Champs II
The Champs II program is year-round and designed for 8th-grade and high school players who will compete in high school tennis and/or USTA Sectional L6 and L7 tournaments.
Senior Coach James Carr, a certified USTA High-Performance Coach, and an accredited USPTA Coach, direct the Champs II program. He previously taught tennis for the City of Tempe in Arizona, Jekyll Island Tennis Center in Georgia, and Grove Island Tennis in Florida.
The program is focused on establishing strong stroke fundamentals and tennis-specific movement. This year-round program includes tennis instruction, fitness training, and competitive match play.
Champs II players train two hours daily, up to five days a week on both clay and hard courts. Champs II participants qualify for free summer training weeks and JTCC’s College Services to prepare for college tennis recruitment.
The Champs II schedule is as follows:
Monday – Friday 5:00 – 8:00 pm (Fitness 5:00 – 6:00 pm)
Sunday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Fitness 10:00 – 11:00 am)
Meetings with the Champs II coaching staff may be scheduled to discuss player progress.
Students are required to register for a minimum of two days and those enrolled in the Champs II program will receive a complimentary week of summer training equivalent to the number of days enrolled per week during the school year. Any player leaving the JTCC program during the year will not receive complimentary summer training weeks. Players who join the program mid-year will receive summer weeks at the member rate. A 60-day notice is required to cancel a high-performance training contract via email.
Registration is open for the 2024-2025 program (September 3 – June 6).
