The timing was impeccable.
On the day of Junior Tennis Champions Center’s Tennis Festival, an annual free event that seeks to identify future tennis champions, Denis Kudla, a participant in the Festival when he was 8-years-old, captured the Tallahassee Challenger Singles Championship.
Kudla ousted unseeded Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. The singles title was Kudla’s fourth of his career and first on clay.
If you missed out on this year’s Festival, do not fret! JTCC will host another one at this time next year. The Festival is open to children ages 5 to 12 of all skill levels. No tennis experience is necessary. The event includes agility drills, speed tests and hand-eye coordination exercises. Twenty of the most promising youngsters receive three free weeks of summer camp.
