JTCC 2026 Champions Celebration

An Evening to Celebrate and Honor

Ray Benton

Honoree

Ray Benton has devoted his career to growing tennis at every level—from grassroots access to the global professional stage—and is widely regarded as one of the most influential executives in the sport.

Since 2008, Ray has served as CEO of the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC), transforming it into one of the nation’s premier player development and education models. Under his leadership, JTCC has produced ATP and WTA Tour professionals and more than 200 student-athletes who collectively earned over $26 million in college scholarships across NCAA Division I, II, and III programs. JTCC has been honored by the USTA as Development Program of the Year, Organization of the Year, and Facility of the Year. Announcing his retirement in 2025, Ray leaves JTCC with strong financial reserves and a fully funded major capital expansion project.

Ray was a name partner at Donald Dell’s pioneering firm, Dell, Craighill, Fentress, and Benton, and later served as president of ProServ, representing icons including Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, Ivan Lendl, Tracy Austin, Michael Jordan, and Patrick Ewing.

As a promoter, Ray oversaw more than 130 professional events worldwide, including the Volvo Grand Prix and the Volvo Masters at Madison Square Garden, and created the first global senior tour featuring Connors, John McEnroe, and Björn Borg. He served on the USTA Board of Directors and was inducted into the Mid-Atlantic Tennis Foundation Hall of Fame in 2005.

Denis Kudla

Honoree

Denis Kudla’s tennis journey is defined by perseverance, gratitude, and a deep connection to the community that helped shape him. Born in Ukraine and raised in Northern Virginia after immigrating to the United States as a toddler, Denis found his passion for tennis early, inspired by time on local courts with his older brother and supported by parents who made significant sacrifices to give him opportunity.

A pivotal chapter in his development began at the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) in College Park, Maryland. Training daily at JTCC while balancing academics through homeschooling, Denis embraced a demanding routine that required discipline, independence, and resilience well beyond his years. Long Metro rides to practice became part of daily life, reinforcing the work ethic and self-reliance that would define his career.

As a junior, Denis quickly rose to the top of the game, reaching a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 3 in the world. He won the prestigious Orange Bowl Boys’ 16s title in 2008 and advanced to the boys’ singles final at the 2010 US Open, establishing himself as one of the nation’s top prospects before turning professional.

Over a 17-year professional career, Denis achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 53, represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, and earned nine ATP Challenger singles titles. Widely respected for his professionalism and work ethic, he competed across the globe before retiring in 2025. Now transitioning into coaching, Denis is committed to mentoring the next generation with the discipline and values instilled at JTCC.
