Three JTCC high performance players, Imani Jean, Mason Robbins, and Ameera Malik, have announced their intentions to play tennis at the next level!
Imani Jean has verbally committed to play NCAA Division I tennis in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for Howard University, an HBCU in Washington, DC. Jean is the third member of her family to attend the university, with her father being a 1991 alumnus, and her older brother, Fritz Julian currently enrolled. She will join JTCC alumna Jordan Grayson who currently anchors the #1 spot on the women’s team.
“I’m thrilled to be going to the same university as my family, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to play with Jordan Grayson again”, Imani stated.
Mason Robins will compete in the Division I Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) this fall playing for the University of Delaware. After spending half his life training at JTCC since joining the Full-Time program in 2010, Robins is energized about his next chapter.
“I’m excited for the team atmosphere and having teammates who can hype me up and then I can root for them during matches,” Robins stated. “I would love to win a CAA Championship and make it to the NCAA Championships one day.”
Ameera Malik will need her passport when she heads to college as she will be attending the Rome City Institute in Rome, Italy. Having trained at JTCC since 2009, Malik is ecstatic to travel to a new country.
“My dream was to study abroad, and I am excited about the opportunity to study in Italy and play tennis under guidance of the Italian Federation,” Malik said.
