JTCC LAUNCHES NEW STARS

Feb 13, 2018

Twelve eager young tennis players ages 6-10 years-old are following in the footsteps of JTCC role models Robin Montgomery and Frances Tiafoe by joining JTCC’s highly acclaimed pathway program.

Montgomery, who is 13, has achieved both a #2 national USTA ranking in Girls’ 12s and won the 2017 USTA National Girls’ 14s Hard Court Championships. Tiafoe, 20, who is currently ranked in the top 100 on the ATP Tour, was world #2 in the ITF junior rankings.

Both Montgomery and Tiafoe started their journeys in similar circumstances as JTCC scholarship students.

The hardworking youngsters from underserved areas of Washington, DC and Prince George’s County, MD were identified during JTCC’s 2017 fall community outreach Game On! and Advantage Prince George’s programs and have now progressed to Red and Orange ball classes in current Session 3 programming at JTCC.

“JTCC will offer these motivated young players ongoing financial aid,” explained JTCC CEO Ray Benton. “We are thankful to our supporters who have made it possible for the best of our community outreach participants to continue their growth at JTCC and to reach their ultimate goal of earning college scholarships.”
