Prince George’s County has extended its partnership with the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) as title sponsor of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Grade 1 Junior Tournament, which returns to College Park, MD from August 20-27.
The Wayne K. Curry Prince George’s County International Junior Tennis Championships is played at the Junior Tennis Champions Center two weeks before the Junior US Open and attracts the best 18 and Under boys and girls in the world.
“Hosting a premier international event for the top players in the world is consistent with the Junior Tennis Champions Center’s pursuit of excellence” enthused Ray Benton, JTCC Chief Executive Officer. “We are thrilled to be able to showcase our stellar facility and again serve as the North American host venue.”
The Wayne K. Curry Prince George’s County International Championships kicks off with a local wild card qualifying tournament held August 16-18. The winners of the boys’ and girls’ wildcard qualifying event will get a direct acceptance into the 64 player main draw. The boys’ and girls’ finalists will receive a wildcard into the 64 player qualifying draw played August 20-21. The main draw competition gets underway August 22.

The stakes are high. The Wild Card Challenge is a singles only event, with winners moving on to the Wayne K. Curry Prince George’s County International Hard Court Junior Tennis Championships main draw, a Grade 1 ITF tournament hosted by JTCC. In addition, the finalists get their “second chance” entries into the qualifying tournament.
