Sam Querrey, currently ranked No. 61 in the world, visited the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) in College Park, Md., as a part of the Fila® junior tennis mentorship program. Querrey visited with the young players, answered questions, taught warm-up drills and offered tips during a clinic.
According to Jennifer Estabrook, Executive Vice President of Business Operations for Fila, “We believe that Sam will inspire the next generation of American tennis players through his involvement in Fila’s junior mentor program. The Junior Tennis Champions Center is the pinnacle of our junior tennis marketing initiative, and it’s only natural that our first mentorship event was held at JTCC.”
“I am excited to have the opportunity to give back to the tennis community through Fila’s junior player mentor program,” said Querrey. “The Junior Tennis Champions Center is an excellent training and learning environment, and it was great to share my enthusiasm for the game with young players in their program.”
“We were honored to welcome Sam and the Fila junior mentor program to JTCC,” said JTCC Chief
Executive Officer, Ray Benton. “He is a positive role model for our young players, and the Fila junior mentorship program is a valuable way for junior players to learn from one of today’s best players.”
Querrey, 26, turned pro in 2006 and has been ranked in the Top 50 on the ATP World Tour for five of the past six years. In January 2011, he achieved a career-high world ranking of number 17. He is currently the second-ranked American on the ATP World Tour and has won seven Singles titles, including three titles in Los Angeles. Sam is a member of the United States Davis Cup team and won the lone U.S. singles rubber during the 2013 World Group Quarterfinal vs. Serbia. He represented the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Querrey’s serve is one of the fastest on the ATP World Tour and has been recorded up to 148 mph.
In addition to hosting the Fila junior mentorship program, JTCC and Fila also have a multi-year agreement to promote Fila’s performance tennis apparel, footwear and accessories. Fila outfits JTCC Coaches and has developed a custom JTCC – Fila® co-branded jacket for players and coaches to wear at junior tournaments around the world. Last year Fila opened a concept shop at JTCC that features the brand’s latest tennis apparel, footwear and accessories.
