After a rough Day 2 at the ASICS Easter Bowl, the remaining JTCC players in boys’ and girls’ 18s redeemed themselves with a perfect 8-0 record in both singles and doubles on the day. Despite temperatures threatening to reach triple digits (and an even higher heat index), Team JTCC held its nerve to complete a perfect day.

In singles, No. 1 Francis Tiafoe, No. 4 Jordi Arconada, and girls’ No. 2 Usue Arconada each breezed into the round of 16 in straight sets. Unseeded Aron Hiltzik, continuing his impressive run in Carson and at last week’s International Spring Championships, sailed through in straights. He now faces No. 8 Kalman Boyd, who struggled with the heat in his second round win. The two played last October at the ITF Pan American Championships, with Hiltzik prevailing 6-3, 6-3.

In boys’ doubles, all three winners needed a third set tiebreak to advance to the quarterfinals. No. 1 Jordi Arconada and partner Daniel Kerznerman won 10-8, No. 5 Julian Zlobinsky won 10-3 with partner Catalin Mateas, and finally No. 8 Hiltzik with Logan Smith, won 10-6 in the third. They all play their quarterfinal matches today.

On the girls’ side, unseeded Alex Letzt and Erin Larner handily dispatched the Jenna Friedel and Jessica Golovin duo 6-2, 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. They face a test in the next round against No. 4 Michaela Gordon and Emma Higuchi.

The 18s players get company today, with the 12s, 14s, and 16s competitions set to get underway. The 19 JTCC players entered in the draws include No. 1 Evan Zhu in boys’ 16s, No. 7 RJ Fresen in boys’ 14s, No. 12 Shawn Berdia in boys’ 12s, and No. 15 Jada Robinson in girls’ 16s. Complete results of JTCC players are below.
