JTCC High Performance player Shristi Selvan had a surprise of a lifetime yesterday when she was awarded a $10,000 ceremonial check as the second recipient of the Keith Robert Larson Scholarship Fund.
From starting in our Red Ball Future Champs program to now chasing national success, Shristi embodies what this scholarship represents — excellence on and off the court.
Visit the link in our bio to read the full story and learn how you can support.
Congratulations Shristi on this fantastic achievement! 👏
🎓 Congratulations to Shaun Fernando (JTCC Class of 2026) on being named a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist!
Shaun, who trains full-time in JTCC’s High Performance program while balancing academics, is the first full-time JTCC student ever to receive this honor.
His standout performance on the PSAT - 1510 out of 1520 - earned him semifinalist recognition (top 1% of high school seniors).
Shaun has applied for Finalist status, with results expected by the end of the year.
We’re proud to celebrate his excellence both on the court and in the classroom. 👏
Get to know CEO Martin Blackman… 👀
We asked him the hard hitting questions.
What’s your favorite answer? 🤔
ODU alumna Sophia Johnson stopped by JTCC for some training 🎾👊
The 2024–25 Sun Belt Women’s Player of the Year wrapped her season ranked #22 in singles, going 26-6 with wins over programs such as Michigan, Ohio State, UVA & Oklahoma.
Always great to see top college players getting reps on our courts 🙌
Throwback to Martin Blackman in JTCC’s lobby in 2004 (with some legends 👀).
We photoshopped them into today’s lobby to celebrate Martin’s first week as our new CEO.

Big news! 🙌
JTCC’s Adaptive Tennis Program was recently featured on the Tennis Channel!
From wheelchair athlete Spencer Davis to Marine veteran Gary Boshoff, the story highlights how JTCC empowers players through personalized coaching, inclusive programming, and the philosophy of “reciprocal mentorship.”
Staff Professional Brad Evans shared his thoughts on the feature:
“To have such a respected and global platform amplify the efforts of our athletes, families, and volunteers shows the work we’re doing at JTCC matters far beyond our own courts.”
Huge thanks to @tennischannel for spotlighting our growing adaptive program! 👏

Today we say thank you to our CEO of 17 years, Ray Benton 💙
Ray’s leadership transformed JTCC into a place where tennis is more than a game — it’s a vehicle for opportunity, equity, and lifelong success.
His successful legacy included:
📌 Developing ATP & WTA champions
📌 Securing $25M+ in scholarships
📌 Expanding access & inclusion
This week, our staff celebrated Ray with a surprise luncheon that included stories from his journey, a signed wooden racquet from coaches, and a framed vision of JTCC’s facility expansion — a lasting reminder of his legacy.
Ray, you’ve impacted thousands of lives on and off the court, and we are forever grateful.
Thank you for everything. 🙌
