Why Volunteer at JTCC

Volunteering at JTCC is more than lending a hand; it’s stepping into moments that genuinely change lives. Our volunteers have the opportunity to support players at every stage of their tennis journey: young children picking up a racquet for the first time, adults rediscovering confidence through sport, competitive juniors chasing growth, and adaptive, wheelchair, and para-standing athletes breaking barriers every day.

On any given court, you’ll meet people from different backgrounds, ages, abilities, and life stories, united by the game of tennis and the power of belonging. Whether you’re offering encouragement, creating structure, or rallying side-by-side, your presence helps someone feel seen, capable, and valued. That impact lasts far beyond the court—and it’s what makes volunteering at JTCC truly special.

Volunteer Roles

  • THE COURT BUDDY
A Court Buddy provides 1 on 1 encouragement and presence, helping players feel confident, supported, and engaged while the coach leads instruction.
  • THE GEAR WRANGLER
A Gear Wrangler keeps the court safe, organized, and running smoothly by setting up, managing, and resetting equipment so players and coaches can focus on the game.
  • THE HITTING PARTNER
A Hitting Partner rallies “cooperatively” with players, adjusting pace and consistency to help build confidence, rhythm, and skill not competition.

Not ready to commit? Try it first.

Volunteer Opportunities

Adaptive Tennis

Volunteering in Adaptive Tennis at JTCC is an opportunity to be part of an inclusive, high-energy environment that expands access to the sport for athletes with disabilities while building meaningful community connections. Volunteers play an active role in supporting on-court instruction, fostering belonging, and helping every player experience success, regardless of ability or experience level.

Key Expectations & Prerequisites:

  • Commit to being present, engaged, and athlete-centered — you will be assisting coaches with drills, equipment, ball feeding, and encouragement.
  • No tennis or adaptive sport experience required; training and on-site guidance are provided!
  • Bring patience, flexibility, and a willingness to learn. Adaptability and positive energy are more important than technical expertise.
Community Outreach

Volunteering in Community Outreach supports JTCC’s “Tennis for Everybody” mission by helping expand access to the sport in diverse and underserved communities. Through programs like Community Champs, volunteers assist coaches during after-school sessions, supporting tennis instruction, enrichment activities, and creating a positive first experience for young players.Outreach volunteers serve as ambassadors of JTCC, helping foster confidence, inclusion, and excitement for the game while building strong community connections.

Key Expectations & Prerequisites:

  • Be adaptable and community-focused — outreach environments can vary, so flexibility and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Engage and encouragement — assist with drills, lead warm-ups when directed, help manage equipment, and create an inclusive, fun atmosphere.
  • No prior outreach experience required — A willingness to step in, help, and connect with participants is what matters most.
Junior Programs

Volunteering in Junior Programs at JTCC is an opportunity to step into a leadership role within a high-performance, youth development environment. Junior volunteers support younger players, assist coaches during clinics and outreach events, and help create a positive, structured, and energetic atmosphere on court. This experience allows student-athletes to give back to the same community that supports their growth, while developing confidence, communication skills, and real-world leadership experience.

Key Expectations & Prerequisites:

  • Be proactive — volunteers assist coaches with drills, ball feeding, equipment setup, organization, and on-court encouragement.
  • Lead by example — demonstrate sportsmanship, professionalism, and positive energy at all times.
  • No prior coaching experience required
  • Bring reliability and accountability — volunteers are expected to show up on time, stay engaged, and complete assigned responsibilities.
