JTCC’s Adaptive Tennis Programs provide inclusive, high-quality instruction for athletes with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. Whether you’re a veteran returning to the game, a Special Olympics athlete building skills, or a wheelchair or standing player competing nationally, JTCC offers a welcoming and empowering environment.

Programs include Para Standing Tennis, Special Olympics Tennis, Veterans Tennis, and Wheelchair Tennis. Led by certified coaches with adaptive experience, JTCC fosters confidence, community, and a lifelong love of the sport for athletes of all backgrounds and abilities. Everyone belongs on the court at JTCC.

ACEing Autism

Summer: ACEing Autism (Ages 5-11) | Saturdays 9:00-9:45 am

Summer: ACEing Autism (Ages 12-18) | Saturdays 10:00-11:00 am

An external program serving athletes with autism ages 5–18. The class runs in a 1:1 volunteer-to-player format with coach-led instruction focused on stroke fundamentals and confidence building.

Session I Dates: June 20, June 27, July 11, July 18 – NO CLASS JULY 4

Session II Dates: July 25, August 1, August 8, August 15, August 22

Summer: Para Standing Tennis

For athletes with physical disabilities who play standing, including players with limb difference, limited mobility, and neurological disabilities.

Focus:

  • Stroke fundamentals
  • Skill development
  • Play-based learning
  • Community building

Beginner

Summer: Beginner Special Olympics (Levels 1-2)

For athletes learning the basics of tennis in a structured, high-support environment.
Focus:

  • Individual stroke development
  • Basic sending/receiving
  • Motor skill coordination
  • No rally expectation
  • Structure mirrors ACEing Autism in simplicity and repetition.

Intermediate

Summer: Intermediate Special Olympics

For athletes with intellectual/developmental disabilities who:

  • Know fundamental strokes
  • Can send/receive cooperatively
  • Are developing competitive skills

Focus:

  • Consistency
  • Target-based training
  • Stroke refinement
  • Orange & Green Ball doubles preparation

Days: Saturdays, 1:00-2:30 pm

  • Court positioning basics

Focus is high repetition and confidence building.

Summer Tournament-Level Wheelchair

For competitive players preparing for tournament play.

Prerequisites:

  • Demonstrated mobility competency
  • Baseline stroke consistency

Focus:

  • Conditioning
  • Advanced mobility patterns
  • Tactical development
  • Competitive standards

Summer: Veterans Tennis Corps

For active duty service members and veterans with and without disabilities and their family members to learn the game in a rehabilitative and camaraderie-centered setting.

Days: Thursdays, 12:00-2:00 pm

Dates: June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20

All Levels

Summer: Adaptive Matchplay

Open to players across wheelchair, para standing, Special Olympics, and veterans.

Format:

  • 15-minute warm-up
  • 2–3 rotations of partners/opponents
  • Singles and doubles
  • Integrated play across disabilities

Purpose:

  • Build competitive confidence
  • Encourage cross-program community
  • Simulate tournament environments
