Community Outreach

JTCC harnesses the power of tennis to enrich lives and strengthen our community. JTCC outreach extends across diverse populations, reflecting the core belief in “Tennis for Everybody.” From empowering underserved youth through long-standing Community Champs programs to providing inclusive Adaptive tennis opportunities for Veterans and individuals with disabilities, JTCC is committed to making the sport accessible and impactful. Explore the initiatives below to learn how JTCC is using tennis to foster growth, well-being, and connection throughout our community.

Community Champs

Since 2009, JTCC’s free Community Champs (formerly Game On!) has advanced our “Tennis for Everybody” mission, making tennis accessible regardless of age, ability, or financial situation. This program sparks interest in tennis and develops students’ social and emotional learning in engaging after-school sessions. Coaches select interested students for Phase 2 at JTCC, offering 10 free weeks of lessons with further enrollment options. JTCC coaches deliver tennis and academic enrichment in low-income, diverse neighborhoods. Partnerships with organizations like the Prince George’s County Police Athletic League and Parks and Recreation Department help bring Community Champs to the community.

Low Cost Community Champs
Community Champs offers a low-cost option for diverse neighborhoods without Title I status, maintaining the same focus on athleticism and basic tennis. Participation allows students to join Phase 2, and proceeds help fund free Community Champs and program improvements.
